Whole wheat woven basket Pizza Pie

  • For base- 1 cup whole wheat Atta, 1tbsp oil, 1tsp baking powder, 1/2tsp baking soda ,2tbsp curd, 3tbsp beetroot puree, 3tbsp spinach puree ,Salt as per taste
  • Pizza sauce: 1 boiled tomato, 1 large onion, 5-6 garlic cloves ,1tbsp olive oil ,Pinch asafoetida ,1tsp cumin seeds, 1tbsp red chilli powder, 1tbsp Szechuan sauce ,2tbsp tomato catch up ,1tsp mixed hurbs ,1tsp dried Rosemary ,1tsp dried basil ,1tsp peprica ,1tsp oragano ,1tsp black pepper powder ,Salt as per taste, Water as required
  • Topping:2 tbsp boiled peas, 2tbsp boiled çorn, 2tbsp boiled cauliflower ,2tbsp boiled carrots, Salt and pepper to taste, 1tsp pizza Sizznning, 1 cheese slice, 1/2cup grated cheese, Some decoratives made with dough(rose and leaves)


Whole wheat woven pizza pie is a healthy version of instant pizza. Base is made from whole wheat flour only, without yeast, no maida, no butter and full of vegetables. All the decorative flowers ,handle and all is made by me from the same dough of base only. This is my entry for the contest Region Specific Diwali Dish.. Hope You all like it.



For dough:

Take baking powder, baking soda, 1tbsp oil, 2tbsp curd, salt and beat everything together... It will get activated then add Ashirwad whole wheat atta and mix gently.

Now devide this mixture into 2 parts.

Add beetroot puree in one part and make a soft dough.

Add spinach puree and make a soft dough.

Knead both the dough very well. And keep in resting for minimum 30 minutes.


For sauce:

Heat olive oil in a pan. Add pinch asafoetida, cumin seeds, chopped garlic cloves and saute for a while.

Now make puree of boiled tomato and onion and add this mixture into pan.

Mix everything well and cook for a while.

Now add all the dry spices listed in the ingredients(basil, oragano, peprica, mixed hurbs, Rosemary, red chilli powder)

Mix everything well.

Now add Szechuan sauce and tomato catch up and mix. Add salt to taste. Add dash of water and simmer it for 10-15 minutes.

Oil will get separated from the mixture. Our sauce is ready.


Mix all the boiled veges in a bowl. Add salt and pepper and mix well. Keep aside.


Now take a dough. Roll a thin big roties from each dough and cut longer strips from each roti.

Take a pie mold. Grease it with oil. And arrange each strips one by one like weaving a basket.

Trim the extra portion from the edges. Pric it well with knife and bake it on 160 degrees in preheated otg for 10-15 minutes or untill the base loose the mold.. It will loose all the sides when cooked.

Now first you can brush some butter first for taste if you want.

Add pieces of cheese slice in bottom. Then spread pizza sauce. Then add all the boiled veges mix. Then grated cheese as per your choice. Sprinkle some pizza Sizznning on top.

Bake the pie untill the cheese melts.

Garnish it with some rose and leaves made with the same base dough and baked separately.

Serve hot.
