Ingredients

  • 500 gm raw mutton
  • 500 gm onion
  • 2 whole garlic
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 3 dried red chillies
  • 3 green chillies
  • 5-7 black peppercorns
  • 3 green cardamom
  • 3 black cardmom
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 3 tbsp coriander powder
  • 2 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri red chilly powder
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • salt to taste

Description

Champaran mutton gets its name from the place of its origin that is champaran from Bihar. the champaran mutton has captured the fancy of foodie since a long time now, its distinct and exquisite flavor has been a key attraction. It is a very simple recipe , quick and easy to cake . Traditionally its cooked in an earthen post over coal. Lets get started with the recipe

Procedure

  1. Heat 3 tsp of mustard oil and ghee in a tadka pan. let it cool
  2. In a large bowl mix all the ingredient with mutton and add ghee oil mix.
  3. Let it rest for few hours.
  4. Put the marinated mutton in a handi and seal the edges with dough, cook on high flame for 10 min, then shake the handi carefully
  5. Cook for another 30 min on slow flame
  6. Serve hot..
